Quick update from the Nursing Clinic:

Happy Halloween everyone! I wanted to take a minute to address some things I have noticed in the nursing clinic over the last few weeks to hopefully prevent any future illnesses and keep our kids in school. Flu Fact Sheet

As I’m sure everyone is aware from watching the news, flu season is upon us and it is hitting our area HARD. Our school is unfortunately experiencing a notable number of positive cases and many are currently absent with “flu-like symptoms”. If your child has ANY flu-like symptoms such as, cough, sore throat, headache, muscle aches, and/or fever, it is best to keep them home until symptoms resolve and they have been fever free for 24hrs without the use of fever reducing medications. I am attaching the current DHEC Flu Fact Sheet which breaks down how we can best prevent the spread of flu this season. Please read over it so we can slow this down!

Also on my radar, we have experienced a few cases of head lice recently, all of which have been treated. To hopefully prevent anyone else from going through this, please check your child for lice if you have noticed any excessive itching or if they complain of “tickling” on their head. If you prefer, there are several lice clinics in the area that will also thoroughly check your child if you are concerned about them possibly having it.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Please let me know if there is anything I can help with. Let’s keep these kids healthy!

Best,

Nurse Ragan
