This year, Severe Weather and Flood Safety Week will be observed in South Carolina the week of March 10–16, 2019. We will be conducting our annual tornado drill on Wednesday, March 13th at 9:00 a.m. Hopefully we will never have to face what our neighbors in other states have endured, but it is important that we be as prepared as possible should severe weather be in our area.
The plan is to hold the picnic outside near the gym. Please bring chairs, picnic blankets, and bug spray. In the event of poor weather, the picnic will be held in the gym.
It is time to nominate PTO officers for next year. The positions of Vice-president, Treasurer and Secretary have open seats. Please consider nominating someone, or even yourself. Please provide nominations to Tricia Lisinski by April 1st.
The student body of Carolina Voyager closely mirrors the diverse demographics of the Charleston Area, and we seek to embrace and celebrate our diversity. A new Diversity & Inclusion Committee is forming, which will promote respect for and an appreciation of differences of all kinds. A student-led club will also debut in the 2019/20 school year, which will include acts of service through community outreach. Our first event of the 2019/2020 school year will be a multicultural night where we will seek to share and learn about the backgrounds and cultures which come together to form our school family.
We will be hosting a Drop-In Kick Off Meeting on Saturday, April 13 and would like to invite all who are interested! Additional details will be shared as the location is finalized. If you have any questions please feel free to email Stephanie Robinson (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Emily McCranie (email@example.com)
Learning Outside the Classroom!
Current 4th, 5th, and 6th graders and their parents are invited to travel with Ms. Hatch to beautiful London, England in the summer of 2020! If you are interested in more information, please join Ms. Hatch on Wednesday, March 13th at 6:00pm in room 142. At the meeting we will go over all necessary details, including the dates of the trip, what is included in the cost, and the different experiences we will have while there. Please follow the link to RSVP for the meeting. If you are interested but unable to attend on Wednesday, you can indicate that on the RSVP and I will send you more information next week. If you have any questions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank goodness this week’s winter-like weather is behind us. I’m sure I looked like I was heading on a ski trip in the car loop these past few mornings. I hope we don’t see temperatures like that again until next January.
Don’t forget to turn your clocks forward an hour before your go to bed Saturday night. It’s daylights savings time! Kerri is up in Baltimore visiting family and friends. It looks like a weekend full of golf, chicken wings, and pizza for me.
Have a great weekend and we’ll see you in the car loop bright and early on Monday morning.
