Thank you Mrs. Wise
It is with regrets that I include the following notice in this week’s email.  We wish Mrs. Wise the very best, and for her husband, a speedy recovery.

Dear Carolina Voyager Community,

It saddens me to inform you that I will be leaving the school in March. My husband’s health has taken a turn for the worse and I have found it impossible to balance work and personal responsibilities. It has been a great opportunity to teach these fabulous 5th and 6th graders and I wish them the best moving forward.

Katie Wise

We are fortunate to have hired a highly qualified teacher to replace Mrs. Wise.  Mrs. Ryann Lyden will join our staff on Monday, March 4th.  Mrs. Lyden holds a Bachelor’s degree in German and Biology and a Master’s in Teaching Biology.  She brings 12 years of experience teaching third grade through high school Honors Biology and AP Environmental Science.  Look for her bio in a coming newsletter.  We will be scheduling a meet and greet with for fifth and sixth grade parents the week of March 4th.

Buffalo Soldiers
Our third-sixth graders got a great history lesson this week when they attended a play at the Gaillard on the Buffalo Soldiers.  It’s sad, but I don’t remember them being mentioned in the history books when I was in school.  Be sure to ask your children what they learned.

Classroom Spelling Bees
Next week, our third-sixth graders will be competing in classroom spelling bees to identify the top three spellers in each class.  They received their Scripps Spelling Bee Lists several weeks ago.  Make sure they take some time this weekend to study in preparation for their class bees.  The top spellers will compete in the school wide bee on March 5th at 6:30 p.m. in our auditorium.

Coffee Cart
Attention parents!  Mrs. Negrey’s students have created a great business to help our children learn about financial literacy and to raise funds to support our school programs. Mrs. Miller’s students will be serving coffee, cappuccino, tea, or hot chocolate on Fridays before Funky Friday for all adults to purchase for just $.50 a cup. Come help support our students!

School Choice
REMINDER : The CCSD School Choice Lottery is now open.  Siblings of current Voyagers are placed first in line for open seats, but you must apply through the lottery website by March 11, 2019.  Please contact the front office with any questions about this process.   Current students do not need to apply.  When enrolling a sibling, please make sure you include their brother or sister’s name on the application as well.,12,14

Kerri and I are heading to the upstate this morning to attend a Clemson Basketball game at Littlejohn Coliseum.   It’s been on Kerri’s bucket list for years now.  We are looking forward to getting up to Clemson for the first time.  If the weather cooperates, I might get in a round at the Walker Golf Course at Clemson.  C’mon, how could I not want to play there, right?   I guess I’ll have to buy a hat and shirt too.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.  I’ll see you in the car loop bright and early on Monday.
