iReady Diagnostic Assessments
This week, students in Kindergarten through Grade 6 took their iReady Midyear Diagnostic Assessments. These assessments will measure each student’s growth from the beginning of the year through this first semester. You will be receiving a copy of your child’s math and reading assessment report along with a cover letter explaining the results on January 22nd, when report cards are distributed. If you have any questions about these reports, please reach out to your child’s teacher after you have had a chance to review the test results.

This month we will be learning about Tolerance. Tolerance is respecting and appreciating differences in each other. We want our students to celebrate their differences and know that it is okay to be different.
The next PTO meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 15th at 5:30 p.m. here on campus. As a reminder, everyone is invited to attend. Come out and see how you can get involved in further supporting our school’s mission. The focus of this meeting will be on plans for the spring.
What to do, what to do? Now that my Ravens are out of the playoffs, do I become a Cowboys fan, or maybe root for the Chargers? Definitely not the Patriots. Sorry Pats fans!
It might be time to shift my focus and look out on the horizon toward that most wonderful time of the year. No, not next Christmas – March Madness! My Terps won a big game last night against Indiana and should break back into the top 25. It sort of takes the sting out of the Ravens loss last week. Oh yeah, and the fact that the Steelers didn’t make the playoffs this year…
Kerri and I are hosting a small group of colleagues (like 55) for our annual staff party this evening at our home in Summerville. It should be a lot of fun. I’m sure I’ll spend some time tonight reflecting on how this school started with a handful of brave risk takers, an old Sunday School building at a church downtown, and a vision that we could make a difference in the lives of Charleston children and their families. I’d say mission accomplished. I am blessed to have such a talented and dedicated team. I can remember interviewing and hiring every one of them and I look forward to the next rounds of interviews as we continue to grow over the next two years.
I hope everyone has a great weekend. Sorry about the cold weather. Contrary to some of our parents’ comments, no I did not bring this weather with me from Maryland. Hey, at least it’s not snowing. Remember last year?
